Headset Headphones allow you to seamlessly pause and answer calls while listening to music. Most importantly, you won't have to sacrifice sound quality.
This fast-growing category, which is also known as 'headset' headphones, includes complete telecommunication capability with built-in microphones and remote control buttons on the cord that allow quick switching between music and phone calls. Mic'd headphones come in a variety of styles, including in-ear, full-size, and wireless. Although globally compatible smartphone headphones are becoming more common, keep in mind that many mic'd headphones are only compatible with Android or Apple devices.
Any headphone with a built-in microphone for voice conversations is referred to as a headset headphone. Headphones with microphones are most widely used with iPhone, iPad, Android, and other smartphones and tablets to allow you to listen to music while talking on your phone or tablet. Some headset mics contain three buttons (mostly for Apple devices) that can be used to control pause, advance, and play, among other things. Most Android headsets offer a single button that allows you to pause your music and take a call. The exact functioning of your headphones, as well as the headset's and device's compatibility, is determined by the headphone model and your specific phone.
Headset Styles: Headsets are available in a variety of headphone styles, including in-ear, on-ear, over-ear, neckband, and earclip. Wireless Bluetooth headsets and even a top-of-the-line'mono' single-earpiece headset are available. In-line microphones are also available on a wire that may be added to an existing earphone.
Full-size headphones with a boom-style microphone are more typically used as gaming headsets. For specialized gaming headphone and gaming headset suggestions, see our Gaming Headphones Guide.
Call center headsets are typically mono, with only one earpiece, and are designed solely for voice applications with low audio quality. We primarily stock stereo (separate left/right earpieces) headset devices capable of superb audio reproduction as well as full telephony at HeadRoom.
